Ana

We spoke to Stylist and Creative Director, Ana Floubet about her jewellery stories. Equipped with a disposable camera, she took us on a day in her life.

  1. Tell us about yourself
I am a Fashion Stylist and Creative Director currently based in Barcelona.
  2. How did you get started in your career as a Creative Director?
Honestly I don’t know when it started exactly. I guess when I studied Fine Arts where I learnt how to express myself in many different artistic languages. We did video, painting, photo, sculpture, sound… It was very dynamic so since then I have always been attracted to experiment in the visual world and discover new creatives.
  3. What do you think is unique about the art and fashion scene in Barcelona?
I love the work energy that we have here. Compared to the other fashion capitals, you don’t have to deal with lots of Devil Wears Prada ego situations luckily. In general, there is always a good atmosphere at work. The city is full of very talented creatives and I feel there is a good connection between all of us! We are lucky to work on our passion, let's enjoy it and not let the ego ruin this privilege :)
  4. What's inspiring you at the moment?
That's a hard one. I am inspired by lots of different things. Work-wise I am always checking new music, photographers, photography books… I always register everything I find interesting in folders so when I have to come up with an idea I have everything organised.
  5. If you could only wear one thing ever again, what would it be and why?
I think a ring that has a sentimental value.
  6. What is your first jewellery memory?
I have a small gold medal with my name on it from when I was born that I wear a lot. It's so beautiful.
  7. Is there a piece of jewellery that is particularly special to you? If yes, why?
I am quite superstitious with jewelry. If I start wearing something in a good period of my life I feel the memories will fade away if I stop wearing it. I had such a bad time when I lost a cheap random ring I bought in Camden, while doing my Erasmus in London, which I wore for 8 years. The ring was nothing special but I felt I was gonna forget my time there when I lost it.
  8. Who are women who inspire you in your life?
My mum, my amazing friends, artists like Louise Bourgeois, Niki de Saint Phalle, Elizabeth Peyton, Corinne Day, Harley Weir…
  9. How would you describe your style?
Hmm eclectic? Haha Idk it changes a lot, I like to see myself different. I like to mix nice vintage pieces, independent designers, clothes that my friends gift me and mix them creating a different character depending on my mood.
  10. When you think of Daphine what comes to mind?
    Classy, warmth, natural, gold.
  11. What are some of the lessons you have learned over the last year?
Don’t take anything for granted. Life changes a lot and you don’t know what’s waiting for you tomorrow so try to be kind to people, work hard and enjoy the ride.

TIPS & TRICKS

Your ring should fit your finger comfortably, snug enough so that it will not fall off but loose enough to slide over your knuckle with some resistance.

For best results measure your finger size at the end of the day and when your fingers are their largest.

Don’t measure when your body temperature is either too cold or too hot. Only measure when fingers are at room temperature.

If you hesitate between two sizes, always go with the larger one.

If you are purchasing a wide band, you will be more comfortable moving up a half size from your measurement.
